Philadelphia Union's Malik Jakupovic and Jamir Johnson each showcased their skills that made them worthy representatives of the club at the 2025 MLS NEXT All-Star Game in Austin.
Union II forward Malik Jakupovic earned the start atop of the Eastern Conference's starting XI, playing the first 45 minutes. Jakupovic turned on the burners in the 21st minute, racing in behind the West defense but saw his centering cross blocked the snuff out the attacking build up.
In the second half, Jamir Johnson took to the pitch in a chaotic second half that saw the two sides track goes left and right. The big moment came late with the West grabbing an equalizer in the 83rd minute but the East quickly going back into attack mode with Johnson leading the way. Recieving the ball on the left side of the attack inside the box, Johnson was patient as he looked for a cross but ultimatly saw the pass denied by a handball.
Drawing the penalty meant the U.S. youth international would get to take the penalty, with the midfielder confidently scoriing with his right foot for the game winner.
