Union Academy's David Vazquez named to US Roster for 2022 Concacaf U-17 Championship

U.S. Soccer announced on Friday that Philadelphia Union Academy forward David Vazquez has been selected to represent the United States as part of the  U.S. U-17 Men’s Youth National Team for the Concacaf U-17 Championship. The event is set to take place from Feb. 11-26 in Guatemala and the U.S. aims to qualify for a record 18th FIFA U-17 World Cup as the four (4) teams which reach the tournament’s semifinals will qualify for the  2023 tournament set for this fall in Peru.

Vazquez was part of the January U17 national team training camp that took place at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. where Head coach Gonzalo Segares called up 23 players.

The U.S. was drawn into Group F and kicks off the competition against Barbados on Saturday, Feb. 11, takes on Trinidad and Tobago on Monday, Feb. 13, and closes the group stage against regional rival Canada on Wednesday, Feb. 15. All three of the USA’s group stage matches are set for 8 p.m. ET.
