Union U-15s fall to Baltimore Armour in the MLS Next Cup Playoffs

Final U-15s

The Philadelphia Union U-15 squad opened MLS Next Cup play with a hard-fought loss, falling to Baltimore Armour in a penalty shootout on Saturday.

The first half of the game in Texas ended scoreless – it wasn’t until early in the second half that Baltimore put the first point of the game on the board. The Union’s opponents quickly created a 2-0 lead to open the second half, but Philadelphia refused to back down, battling to minimize their deficit throughout the final 45 minutes.

Two crucial goals from Lennon Harrington equalized the score, sending the game to a shootout to decide the winner. The Union fell just short of claiming the win, completing four successful attempts to Baltimore Armour's five.

The Philadelphia Union U-17 team will have a chance of their own to take a run towards the trophy beginning tomorrow at 12 pm CT/1 pm EST against the Portland Timbers. Click here for a preview of matchup.
