Philadelphia Union played D.C. United on Thursday night at Subaru Park, drawing 0-0. With the tie and win in post-regulation shootout, the Union advance to the round of 16 in the 2023 Leagues Cup. The game remained scoreless despite both teams having many scoring opportunities. Philadelphia and D.C. had almost equivalent possession, with the Union having the ball 52.2% of the time. Goalkeeper Andre Blake had three saves to keep the score even and lead to a post-regulation shootout. The Union converted four out of five of their shots to win the match with Olivier Mbaizo scoring the goal winning kick to move the Union ahead to the round of 16 for the 2023 Leagues Cup.

The Union will return to Subaru Park on Monday, August 7th (time TBA) where they will face New York Red Bulls in the round of 16 for the 2023 Leagues Cup.
