The Philadelphia Union Foundation provides opportunities for children through the power of relationships to offer transformational change in the areas of education, community, health and recreation.  Using soccer as a conduit for change, the Foundation reinforces the traditional family values of honesty, integrity, effort and accountability and aims to have a positive impact on children with respect to their character development, academic performance and physical well-being.
The Foundation had a very successful first year, hosting a variety of events in Chester such as a coat drive, a food drive, a playground build and the second annual River Cup match between the Sons of Ben and Union front office, which raised $30,000 for programming and initiatives in Chester.  A partnership with Widener University and U.S. Soccer Foundation was also forged, leading to programs like Soccer for Success.
