PHIvCLT | Team Celebration

After picking up its third straight shutout, Philadelphia Union not only continued its best start in club history but maintained its reign at the top of this week's MLSSoccer.com's Power Rankings.

The Union are one of three unbeaten teams remaining in MLS play, joined by LAFC and the Chicago Fire and are coming off a 2-0 home win against Charlotte FC. The match saw Julian Carranza notch his first goal for the Boys in Blue while Daniel Gazdag continued his scoring streak with a second-half strike to make it four straight games with a goal.

"They’re every bit as good as we thought they might be and are trending towards something even better," Sam Jones wrote. "New DP forward Julian Carranza has a goal and two assists in four games so far and new DP forward Mikael Uhre made his home debut in Saturday’s win over Charlotte. Carranza already seems like a hit for Philly. If Uhre can eventually slot in full-time and make a similar impact, the Union are going to be straight-up terrifying."

"We know their diamond midfield is going to bully you at this point and we know there’s still room for improvement at forward. These are typical Union things. But let’s not forget about the defense. They might have the best center-back pairing in the league in Jack Elliot and Jakob Glesnes, plus they have an elite left back in Kai Wagner. And when Olivier Mbaizo began to struggle at right back, they just pulled Nathan Harriel, yet another academy kid, into the starting lineup to immediately and meaningfully contribute. Unreal."

Philly is back in action this weekend as they wrap up a two-match homestand on Saturday night against the Columbus Crew. Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET with the match presented by Captain Morgan. Don't miss out on seeing the Boys in Blue with tickets still available for the Eastern Conference showdown.
