The Philadelphia Union play their second of two consecutive road games on Wednesday, making the trip south to take on Orlando City in the Sunshine State. Coverage begins at 7:30pm, tune in to watch the action on Apple TV.
Scouting the opponent
The Philadelphia Union have three more matches on their schedule before Major League Soccer pauses from play for nearly two months during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and the upcoming midweek meeting with Orlando is a promising opportunities for points in the final stretch ahead.
Orlando City has also had an unfavorable start to 2026, as they await the arrival of French superstar Antoine Griezmann in July, claiming three wins, one draw, and eight losses so far in 2026. The side now led by Martín Perelman, who took over for Oscar Pareja after their 0-3 start, sits one spot above the Union at 14th in the East.
Record aside, Argentinian Designated Player Martín Ojeda’s been a player to watch for Orlando, scoring seven of their 16 total goals. He’s built some momentum as of late, adding his most recent trio by way of a hat ttrick against intrastate rival Inter Miami on May 6th. On the defending end of the field Orlando City has struggled, allowing the highest number of goals against in the league with 34 through 12 matches.
Philly’s spot in the standings
After Saturday’s 2-1 loss to New England Revolution, Philly is still in the cellar of the conference with just one win and three draws since the start of the year. They’ve also faced multiple consequential injuries to starting players, namely Jesus Bueno, Japhet Sery Larsen, and most recently Frankie Westfield, who was forced to leave Saturday’s match in the first half.
“He’s good, but not so good,” Carnell said of Westfield’s injury. “All the X-rays and everything came out negative in terms of anything structurally wrong with his hip, so it's a very bad confusion on the hip pointer, and it's probably day-to-say.”
As for the other pair, Carnell said Sery Larsen likely out for the match, while Bueno is also day-to-day.
What’s next
After Wednesday’s upcoming match, Philly will have just one home and one away match until returning to play late July. The Boys in Blue take on Columbus Crew on Saturday, May 16th for a Subaru Park spring finale on Unity Night, then travel to South Beach for their first visit to Inter Miam’s new stadium on Memorial Day Weekend.
