The Philadelphia Union are back on the road for their final match before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, visiting Leo Messi’s Inter Miami for a Sunday night showdown at the South Florida side’s newly opened home stadium. Sunday marks Philly’s last road outing until a bus trip to New York City on August 16th – tune in to watch the action with coverage on FOX, Fox Deportes and Apple TV.

Last week’s draw

The Boys in Blue will face Leo Messi’s Miami just over one week after claiming a point against Columbus Crew in their last home match until late July. The visitors scored in the first 10 minutes, but a passionate Subaru Park atmosphere helped push the team to find a second half equalizer. Milan Iloski hit the back of the net in the 70th minute off an assist from Agustin Anello off the bench, securing the 1-1 draw for their 7th point of the season.

Philly in the standings

Philly still sits at the bottom of the East with one win, nine losses, and four draws, while Inter Miami have earned a spot at the other end of the standings, in second place with 28 points. The side, led by interim Head Coach Guillermo Hoyos, has won three matches straight, scoring 11 goals in that same span to boost their season total to a league high of 33.

Scouting the opponent

Inter Miami have constructed one of the strongest rosters in the league, adding another superstar in Rodrigo DePaul as a permanent addition in the offseason after his initial summer loan to the group With veteran experience from world class players like Messi and Luis Suarez. complemented by multiple young talents, Sunday’s match will be another challenge for the Boys in Blue, but one Head Coach Bradley Carnell believes his team is up for.

"We're going to be brave, and we were excited about this game," Carnell said during his Friday press conference. "I've always said the names on the back of the shirts, never interested me, and it got me a long way in my career. Whether that's as a player or as a coach, you're always coming up against better. This is the best of the best so maybe in a moment where no one expects from us anything, this is maybe the moment that we can strike."
