The first-place Philadelphia Union are back on the road, this time closing out their marathon may with a two-game trip between two countries. They'll first take on Toronto FC four days after finishing in a 3-3 draw against Inter Miami at home. The away action starts on Wednesday night at BMO stadium, tune in with MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
Through 15 matches, Toronto FC are near the bottom of the conference standings in 14th place, sitting above only CF Montreal. With three wins, four draws, and eight losses, they've accumulated just 13 points, which is less than half of the Philadelphia Union's total so far.
Head Coach Bradley Carnell and his team enter the midweek meetup with a seven match unbeaten streak in Major League Soccer play plus two Open Cup wins. They haven't lost in May, and should they emerge from this final stretch before their two-week rest unscathed, they'll have built an 11-match unbeaten streak across all competitions.
So far in 2025, Philadelphia Union has only dropped two matches on the road, and in his prematch press conference on Memorial Day, Carnell gave media a glimpse into his team's travel plans and how they hope to keep their promising form in tact away from home.
"We have two back to back so we're staying on the road as a group," Carnell said.
"It's going to be a moment where we're going to bolster the squad. We're going to take extra players. We're going to have a nice, big traveling roster, just to get the togetherness, the team spirit, keep that morale high, and keep the energy flowing, because we felt we've been great on the road so far."
Among those traveling will be three-time MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Andre Blake, who's officially cleared to play after missing the team's last six matches due to injury.
"He trained with us this morning," Carnell said Monday.
"He's even doing a little bit of extra now on the field, which is great to see. So yeah, we are planning with Dre in and amongst our roster for up until he's called up for the [Jamaican] National Team."
With a robust travel party and less than a week remaining before they pause MLS play until June 14th, the Philadelphia Union will look to start their trip with a three-point performance in Toronto, where they haven't won a match since 2019.
