Philadelphia Union looks to close out a demanding March on a high note—and secure their first league win—as they host Chicago Fire FC at Subaru Park for Matchday 5’s Walmart Saturday Showdown. Tickets can be purchased online, with coverage beginning at 4:30PM on Apple TV.

March has been a busy stretch for the Boys in Blue, with Saturday’s clash marking their sixth and final match before the international break. While still searching for their first league victory, the Union have remained competitive—three of their four losses have been decided by a single goal.

After juggling domestic and international competitions to open 2026, Philadelphia now turns its full attention to MLS play. The Union’s Concacaf Champions Cup run came to an end in the Round of 16 with a narrow 2-1 aggregate loss, but not without a statement performance in Mexico City.

The Union delivered one of their most complete performances of the season against continental giants Club América, earning a 1-1 draw on the road. After conceding early, the momentum shifted in favor of the Boys in Blue, with Jesus Bueno converting from the penalty spot in the 49th minute. Philadelphia pushed for a winner throughout the second half but ultimately came up just short of advancing to the Quarterfinals.

Chicago arrives at Subaru Park sitting seventh in the Eastern Conference with four points from their opening matches. Under second-year Head Coach Gregg Berhalter, the Fire are coming off a 2-1 loss to D.C. United but will be well-rested, as Saturday’s match marks just their third game of the month.

Saturday’s matchup pits the Union’s defensive discipline against one of the East’s more dangerous attacking groups. Forward Hugo Cuypers has picked up right where he left off, scoring three goals already after netting 17 in 2025. Playmaker Philip Zinckernagel has yet to register a goal contribution this season but demonstrated last season the veteran is still one to watch with 30 combined goals and assists. The pace of Jonathan Bamba on the wing presents a constant threat—especially if the Union are caught upfield.

With a packed March coming to a close, Saturday presents a prime opportunity for Philadelphia to turn strong performances into points in front of the home crowd at Subaru Park.
