Philadelphia Union will return to the pitch at Talen Energy Stadium this weekend when they host Eastern Conference rival D.C. United. This will be a special Saturday afternoon kick-off and as we inch closer to match day, we have your reasons to watch this Eastern Conference clash.
The Ultimate Fortress
The Union have had a tremendous amount of success at Talen Energy Stadium against D.C. United in their history. Philadelphia owns an all-time home record of 7-3-0 against DCU and has dominated in their most recent matches. Since May 17, 2015, the Union have not lost to D.C. United at Talen Energy Stadium owning a record of 4-0-0. The club has not allowed a goal to their rivals in that span, owning a goal-differential of plus six in that stretch of play.
Big Man Blake
It should come as no surprise that MLS All-Star Andre Blake flexes his muscles most when Philadelphia’s rival is on the other side of the pitch. Blake has been outstanding in his career against DCU, the Jamaican international is 4-1-1 all-time against DCU with a goals-against average of 0.67 while recording four shutouts. Blake has never allowed a goal to DCU at Talen Energy Stadium in his career. Fans in attendance should expect another big time performance from the 2016 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year.
Dashing David
David Accam has been a menace for D.C. United in his MLS career. The winger has scored a goal in every season he’s squared off against DCU. In his career, Accam has faced D.C. United in six matches and has found the back of the net three times. The last time Accam found the scoresheet against DCU came on May 20, 2017, where Accam recorded the game-winning goal at RFK Stadium to lift his squad to a 1-0 victory in our Nation’s Capital.
