The brand-new Philadelphia Union Adult Leagues reached the halfway point of its inaugural season this past weekend with multiple action-packed games at the WSFS Bank Sportsplex. For the last several weeks, teams from the Men’s Open and Women’s Open divisions have been competing for bragging rights at the new, state of the art IBX Fields at the WSFS Bank Sportsplex.
The Philadelphia Union Adult Leagues provide a unique opportunity for our fans and community to immerse themselves into the Union culture in a new way. Each Thursday and Sunday, players get to play on the very fields that the first-team, second team, and academy teams train on every day.
Beyond the game itself, participants enjoy exclusive perks, including complimentary match tickets, pre-game activations courtesy of Heineken, and an end-of-season celebration at Union Yards.
As the season hits its midpoint, Team Akebulan leads the charge in the Men’s Open division with four straight victories, while Kensington Elite is dominating the Women’s Division, undefeated through five games and firmly holding the top spot on the table. So far, players have raved about the slick playing surfaces, the quality of officiating, and the competitive nature of each game.
“We encourage everyone to come out and play in our unique leagues this year,” said Sky DuMont, Director of Programming at the WSFS Bank Sportsplex. “Our goal is to bring our fans closer to the Philadelphia Union beyond the matchday experience, and these leagues provide a great opportunity to do so.”
