Philadelphia Union prevailed in a thrilling mid-week matchup against Eastern Conference foe Chicago Fire at Toyota Park on Wednesday evening. There were plenty of candidates to select from for IBX Live Fearless Man of the Match in the club’s 4-3 victory, but David Accam earned the honors with 48 percent of the vote.
Accam started the night on the bench, but quickly entered the contest in the 17th minute when he replaced Brazilian midfielder Ilsinho who exited the match with an upper leg injury.
On the evening, Accam logged 73 minutes and recorded two shots. His second shot proved to be quite memorable for everyone in attendance and Union fans watching all over the country.

After the Fire tied the match at three in the 94th minute of play, the match seemed to have reached its conclusion with both clubs leaving with a draw. Philadelphia was able to generate an attack in stoppage time and that’s when Accam took over.
Accam dribbled into the attacking zone and danced his way through two Fire defenders and bolted for the 18-yard box with the match tied at three. Accam used his agility to create space inside the box and fired a missile with his right foot that curled around the
Chicago center back and found the back of the net for a dramatic 95th minute game-winner sending the Union sideline into a frenzy.
For Accam, the goal was his first as a member of Philadelphia Union and propelled the Union up the table. The speedy winger’s sensational late match heroics against his former club left zero doubt for the fans to vote him as the IBX Live Fearless Man of the Match.
