The knockout rounds of FIFAdelphia Series 2 presented by Subaru kicked off Friday night. Here is how the knockout matches played out on PlayStation 4.
Top seed bousson dominated play versus #8 seed PepperStewFC, cruising to an easy quarterfinal victory. Bousson took an early lead in the first 10 minutes of FIFA play and did not look back. The following quarterfinal continued the trend of the highest seed progressing as bonechill003 looked comfortable throughout the match as he secured a place in the semifinals winning 4-2 over MrBoo13.
What was one of the more entertaining matches in the playoff, No. 3 seed bhatfield took on No. 6 seed ItMustGetLonely in a game that proved almost too close to call. ItMustGetLonely took a strong start and scored the games's first two goals in the opening 30 minutes to be poised to be the first lower seed to move onto the next round. Bhatfield had other plans as he managed to score just before halftime and equalized the match in the 57th minute forcing the only Golden Goal game in the playoffs. In Golden Goal, ItMustGetLonely piled on the pressure early on, but it only took bhatfield one chance in the eighth minute, slotting home a classy near post finish, to send himself to the semifinals.
The last semifinal spot saw a clash between matchup for PS4 saw a group stage rematch between Mf618674 and ArinM22. ArinM22 took first lead in the match in the 22nd minute after a lightning counterattack and help of a few rebounds in the box, before doubling his lead in the 33rd minute for a halftime score of 2-0. Second-half remained scoreless for most of the half until the 87th minute where scored ArinM22 from a rocket inside the box. Mf618674 snatched a consolation goal right before stoppage time to end the game 3-1 in favor of ArinM22.
Coming into the first semifinal #1 bousson looked the clear favorite against #4 ArinM22 coming into this winning every match. However, this proved to be a tight back and forth game with ArinM22 nicking the goal of the game off a corner in the 25th minute. Bousson secured the equalizer in the 35th minute to go level into halftime. In the 58th bousson threaded an exquisite through ball to slot the ball near post and fired another one home in the 68th minute to put himself in control of the match. AriM22 tested bousson later in the 77th but could not come up with an equalizer had bousson booked his ticket to the final.
#3 bhatfield and #2 bonechill003 capped off the PS4 playoffs in a high scoring affair. Bhatfield took the early lead in the match in the 10rd minute placing a low shot in the near post, bonechill003 equalized shortly after, but was quickly pinned back with bhatfield regaining the lead in the 24th minute. The in the 30th minute a generous deflection and a 40th minute penalty decision gave bhatfield a 4-1 lead into halftime. Bonechill003 snagged a goal back in the 73rd minute to finish the game 4-2.
Previewing the final between #1 bousson and #3bhatfield, bousson looks to extend his winning streak to 15 games and join cisseSZN as the second champion to win every single match. Meanwhile bhatfield is seeking to carry the moment from the playoffs and become the first non #1 seed to become champion.
