Union vs. NYCFC Starting XI and Lineup Notes presented by ACME

Philadelphia Union kicks off its participation in the MLS is Back Tournament with a morning clash against New York City FC. Kick off is scheduled for 9 a.m. ET and can be viewed on ESPN and ESPN Deportes. For the MLS is Back Tournament, matchday rosters are expanded due to the new five substitution rules. Below are the starting lineup and notes.


STARTING XI
Andre Blake; Kai Wagner, Mark McKenzie, Jack Elliott, Ray Gaddis; El Brujo Martinez, Jamiro Monteiro, Alejandro Bedoya, Brenden Aaronson; Kacper Przybylko, Ilsinho.


BENCH: Joe Bendik, Matt Freese, Jakob Glesnes, Aurelien Collin, Olivier Mbaizo, Matt Real, Warren Creavalle, Anthony Fontana, Matej Oravec, Cole Turner, Jack de Vries.


NOTES

  • Left back Kai Wagner returns from injury after missing the first two matches of the 2020 MLS season. Wagner started 30 games for the Union in 2019.
  • Center back Jack Elliott earns his first start of 2020 alongside Mark McKenzie. The match marks Elliott's 80th career start for the Boys in Blue.
  • Ilsinho makes his first start of the season with his last start coming against NYCFC in the 2019 regular season finale. 
  • With the expanded rosters Matej Oravec, Cole Turner and Jack de Vries make the matchday roster for the first time in the MLS careers. All three were added to the roster during the offseason with Turner and de Vries being Union homegrowns.
