A midweek clash between two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference is in store as Philadelphia Union travels to the Columbus Crew Wednesday night. The will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET and on PHL17 and PhiladelphiaUnion.com.
“It also needs to be said… we’re good,” Coach Curtin pointed out following the club’s 4-1 victory against D.C. United last weekend to extend their unbeaten streak to seven regular season matches. The Union attacked their rivals early and often scoring three goals in the first 21 minutes. Kacper Prybyzlko picked up a brace leading to a total of three goals this week and earned the honor of MLS Player of the Week. This win also showed the flexibility the team has with Mark McKenzie and Ray Gaddis getting a break and Olivier Mbaizo and Jakob Glesnes getting the starting nod and stepping up. Curtin has pointed out that a lot of the guys will get opportunities and he will be rotating the lineup with two games a week.
This will be a matchup of top teams in the East and a fight for the second place position in the Conference standings. Columbus is currently sitting in second place behind Toronto and just two points ahead of Philadelphia. Although they only grabbed one point against FC Cincinnati in their last match, they had some key players come back from injury: Eloy Room, Lucas Zelarayan and Mokhtar. The Crew have played just two matches at MAPFRE Stadium so far, but they have yet to allow a goal there in 2020.

Eloy Room:Room has recently come back from injury and will try to maintain a 2020 shutout streak in MAPFRE Stadium against Philly’s attacking and versatile offense.
