Philadelphia Union Academy kept its offense and defense rolling on Sunday with a pair of wins over PDA.

The U14 squad continued their blistering start to the season with a 5-0 win over PDA this past Sunday. In a well-balanced attack, the team used great creativity to wear down the PDA defense. Emerson Kekesi opened the scoring, which proved to be the game winner, with Gabe Wesseh, Zach Greer, Jeremy Salazar, Kellan LeBlanc all adding a goal of their own over the 90 minutes. The clean sheet was spurred by another strong performance from the backline and the goal keeper, limiting the number of dangerous chances at goal. This defensive unit has yet to concede a goal this season and hopes to continue that trend going forward.

Meanwhile the U13’s team kept on scoring with a 7-0 victory of their own. The win marked the fifth time this season already that the U13’s have held their opponents scoreless, still yet to concede a goal on the year. Jamir Johnson each had a brace on the day off of some great runs between the opponent. Cavan Sullivan also notched a brace in the win, with Brett Seemmuller, Gunnar Graham, and Peter Doran each adding one in the effort. The team capitalized on a strong transition game sparked by some decisive passes by Pedro Guimaraes.

Both sides look to continue their perfect start to the season when they return to action Saturday October 17th when they take on Real Jersey FC.

Moving down an age group, the U12 team took home a comeback win this weekend against Sporting Delaware. After falling behind 2-0 early, and missing a few conversion chances, the boys were able to find the back of the net once before half time. Everything began to click in the second half with the squad scoring four goals in and conceding none for a final score of 5-2. Despite Sporting Delaware featuring some older players to make for a more competitive game; the Union controlled the game keeping the ball in their attacking zone. Declan Lannon led the charge with a hat trick on the day while Luke Stiens and Alex Pryzbyiski each notched one goal.

Look for the U12 squad to resume play on October 17th when they take on a friendly against the Union’s U11.
