Philadelphia Union II Academy forward Theo Reed has been named MLS NEXT Pro Rising Star of the Matchweek following his two-goal performance against FC Cincinnati 2.
Reed opened the scoring in the 23rd minute before completing his brace in the 71st, finishing a left-footed effort from the center of the box into the bottom-right corner. The two-goal performance marked another milestone in Reed’s first MLS NEXT Pro season.
Reed is one of 12 Union Academy players to make their MLS NEXT Pro debut with Union II this season, joining Matheus De Paula, Isaiah Mendoza, Nehan Hasan, John Ruf, Tyler Gladstone, Abdoulaye Diop, Lennon Harrington, Samuel Gallego, Mateo Gallegos, Jett Harrison and Andrew Craig. Union Academy products have accounted for 21 of Union II’s 33 goals this season.
