Philadelphia Union II defeated Columbus Crew 2 1-0 on Friday night at Kinetic Field at WSFS Bank Sportsplex, earning an important three points at home to keep their playoff push alive.
The first half remained scoreless, with both sides creating chances but unable to find the breakthrough. Union II continued to push after halftime while staying organized defensively, keeping Columbus off the scoresheet as the match entered the final stages.
The breakthrough came in the 83rd minute, when Academy midfielder Kellan LeBlanc set up defender Jordan Griffin for the game-winning goal. The finish marked Griffin’s second goal of the season, while LeBlanc registered his fourth assist of the year.
Union II held firm in the closing minutes to secure the shutout victory and all three points at home.
