Recap: Union II defeat New England Revolution II in 5-1 rout

Philadelphia Union II continued play in MLS NEXT Pro with a 5-1 win against New England Revolution II on Sunday night at Subaru Park. With the win, Union II are now in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with 31 points.

Revolution II midfielder Jake Rozansky was ejected in the 36th minute for a second yellow card caution for a handball. Despite gaining a player advantage and outshooting New England 15 to seven, Philadelphia could not find the back of the net in the first half. Union II goalkeeper Matt Freese recorded three first half saves to hold the score even entering the second half.

Union II took advantage of their player advantage in the second half, initially controlling possession and then scoring in the 54th minute on a Matt Real goal following a corner. Midfielder Jesus Bueno followed up with consecutive goals to earn his second career brace. Defender Nathan Harriel added on in the 67th minute with a goal of his own with a shot from the right side of the box to the bottom left corner. Midfielder Quinn Sullivan scored in the 79th minute to give Union II a 5-0 lead.

Revolution II defender Colby Quinones scored in the 87th minute to bring the score to 5-1. Goalkeeper Matt Freese recorded four saves on the night to help Union II earn three points.
