Philadelphia Union II fell 2-0 to Columbus Crew 2 on Saturday evening at Historic Crew Stadium.
After multiple weather delays, Columbus opened the scoring in the 41st minute when Jamil Danjaji found the back of the net off an assist from Prince Forfor. Union II pushed for an equalizer throughout the match, outshooting Columbus 17 to 10, but were unable to convert their chances.
Columbus doubled its advantage in the 90th minute, as Johann Chirinos scored off an assist from Kevin Gbamble to secure the result for the home side.
Academy defender Mateo Gallegos made his MLS NEXT Pro debut, entering the match in the 74th minute.
Philadelphia Union II will return to action on Saturday, July 25, when they travel to Finley Stadium Davenport Field to face Chattanooga FC at 7:00 p.m. ET on OneFootball.
