After honing his skills with Philadelphia Union Academy and Philadelphia Union II in the USL Championship, goalkeeper Tomas Romero was prepared for the moment that occurred Sunday evening as he made the winning save to lead Georgetown to its first NCAA Soccer College Cup title.

Romero, the youngest goalkeeper to start and win a match in USL Championship history, made the clutch save in the seventh round of penalty kicks against top-seed Virginia. After the match concluded in a 3-3 stalemate, Romero dove to his right to push the Cavalier shot wide and send the Hoyas home as champions.

Romero becomes just the second YSC Academy grad to win the College Cup, joining Sebastian Elney who won the title with Maryland in 2018.
