The Philadelphia Union U-17s fell to LA Galaxy Academy in the second round of the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs on Monday night. The reigning champions defeated the Portland Timbers 2-0 on Sunday, but weren't able to overcome the LA Galaxy despite preventing them from scoring through 90 minutes of play.
Fulltime finished 0-0, sending the game to a shootout to decide the winner. The Union scored two from the penalty spot, while LA Galaxy scored four, ultimately claiming the victory.
