The second seeded Union advanced to the Eastern Conference Semis after an extra time winner from center back Jakob Glesnes against rivals New York Red Bulls. The defender chested down a bouncing ball at the top of the box after Red Bulls half-cleared Jose Martinez’s low cross. Glesnes turned his body, whipped his leg, and tucked a gorgeous dipping ball behind Carlos Coronel. During the match the Boys in Blue extended their shutout streak to 513 minutes, smothering the visitors to just one shot on goal. That one shot came in the 95th minute but Brick Wall Andre Blake made the clutch reaction save the propelled the Union forward.

Sunday's clash will be the third matchup between the two sides in 2021, with the home side emerging victorious in the previous matches. The Union dropped the first matchup in July with a second-minute counter attack from former Union forward CJ Sapong that proved to be the difference in the Music City. The Union answered back in October with a 1-0 win of their own courtesy of a Kacper Przybylko finish from the penalty spot.

Nashville SC comes to Subaru Park after a 3-1 comeback win against No. 6 seed Orlando City SC on Tuesday evening in Tennessee. Nashville SC was undefeated on their home turf during the regular season, going 8-0-9 to rack up points that earned them the No. 3 seed in the East.
