On Thursday volunteers from Philadelphia Union's U-Serve volunteer rewards program joined Bimbo Bakeries USA for Operation Warm at the Chester Community Charter School.
The volunteers were joined by Philadelphia Union players Alejandro Bedoya and Mikael Uhre as well as Team President Tim McDermott who added to the event by assisting over 800 students for a brand new pair of shoes free of charge.
Students also got to test out their new kicks with a variety of games including a few kicks of indoor soccer before showing off their best moves with DJ Nico Oso in the booth.
Operation Warm is a national nonprofit that manufactures brand-new, high-quality coats and shoes for children in need. They partner with compassionate individuals, community organizations, and corporations across North America to provide emotional warmth, confidence to socialize and succeed, and hope of a brighter future by using the gift as a catalyst for community connection.
