After a slow start that saw just a one-goal lead for the Stars and Stripes at the break, the United States rallied past Trinidad and Tobago by a 6-0 margin to secure their spot in the quarterfinals in Philadelphia for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup.
While Aaron Long broke open the scoring in the 41st minute, four goals in 10 minutes proved the difference with forward Gyasi Zardes bagging a brace in three minutes. The result served as a sort of revenge for the United States, avenging their result to T&T that saw the country sitting at home at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The U.S. looks to claim the group when it squares off against Panama on Wednesday night. Kick off is set for 9 p.m. ET after the Union's match against New England at 7 p.m. ET.
