Union in Business with Local Leader

CHESTER, PA (JULY 13, 2009) -- When Philadelphia Union opens for business in the Spring of 2010, the expansion Major League Soccer (MLS) club will kick off with an experienced and proven partner. Keystone Sports and Entertainment LLC, the ownership group of Philadelphia Union, today announced the formation of a comprehensive partnership with Comcast-Spectacor, the Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment company.

“Comcast-Spectacor is well known for creating the type of memorable guest experiences that we are determined to provide for our dedicated supporters,” said Keystone Sports and Entertainment and Philadelphia Union CEO and Operating Partner Nick Sakiewicz. “There are many synergies between our two organizations, but this long-term relationship is founded upon a mutual commitment to producing world-class events. We can’t imagine a better partner to help us service our fans and carry out our vision along the Delaware River waterfront.”

In conjunction with Philadelphia Union, Comcast-Spectacor will utilize the expertise of three separate entities to manage the new 18,500-seat stadium, provide food and beverage concessions and catering, and support Union ticket sales.

Global Spectrum, the Comcast-Spectacor entity that manages more than 80 stadiums, arenas and convention centers throughout North America, will provide innovative management, marketing, and operations at the new stadium. Global Spectrum will also oversee the event staff and event cleaning of the facility on game days. In addition to managing facilities throughout North America, Global Spectrum handles similar responsibilities for the World Champion Philadelphia Phillies of MLB at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, PA; and the NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals of the NFL at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ.

“Partnering with such a well-respected industry leader based in our hometown makes perfect sense,” added Keystone Sports and Entertainment and Philadelphia Union President Tom Veit. “Comcast-Spectacor is uniquely qualified to help us select the right vendors and suppliers, ensuring that our events run seamlessly and have an authentic Philadelphia feel. In the end, it is our responsibility to provide the ultimate sports and entertainment experience for Union supporters and anyone who attends an event in our state-of-the-art stadium.”

Ovations Food Services, the Comcast-Spectacor subsidiary that specializes in providing outstanding food and beverages services at more than 120 public assembly facilities throughout North America, will provide their signature Everything’s Fresh® concepts at all concession stands at the new stadium, as well as food services in the venue’s luxury suites and club seats. Ovations Food Services provides similar services at Municipal Stadium in Jacksonville, FL, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL; and the Rose Quarter in Portland, OR, home of the Portland Trail Blazers of the NBA.

New Era Tickets, the full-service ticketing subsidiary of Comcast-Spectacor, already supports Philadelphia Union sales management in all ticketing initiatives through ComcastTIX, the same ticketing service of the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, PA. New Era Tickets, through their FanOne division, will also be providing a platform for electronic communications with Union supporters.

“There are tremendous opportunities for Comcast-Spectacor to be aligned with the Union,” said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko. “We believe the new stadium is the ideal site for new and exciting possibilities on the ever-growing Chester waterfront. This is a wonderful opportunity for all of our entities to showcase their products and services right here in our home town.”
