Mwanga's X-Rays Come Back Negative

X-Rays on Danny Mwanga's left shoulder have come back negative after the dynamic rookie striker suffered a "slightly separated shoulder" in the first minute of Saturday's 1-0 win over the Chicago Fire. Mwanga stayed in the match until the 55th minute, when he exited and made his way to the locker room. Mwanga's status for Wednesday's match against the San Jose Earthquakes is uncertain.

“Our travel day is Monday so [the training staff] is going to do whatever is necessary to make him available," Manager Peter Nowak said following the match, before X-Rays had been taken. "If he’s not ready he’ll have to skip the match. After the game, we’ll have 10 days until our next one so we try to make it work for the team because Danny is very productive and had some good chances today."

Mwanga is second on the Union with seven goals and tied for third on the club with four assists. The number one overall pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft leads all rookies in goals scored.
