This season, there are several rivalry matches Philadelphia Union fans have to look forward to. Check out the must-see rivalry games you won't want to miss:
April 28 vs. D.C. United:
Come late April, fans can experience a classic Eastern Conference rivalry matchup when the Union goes head to head with D.C. United. The Union holds a 9-8-4 overall record against D.C., and will be looking to add another win in their books. Last season, the Union had a memorable match against DCU to close out their final time playing at RFK Stadium with a 4-0 shutout and was the second-most goals scored in a game by the Union in 2017.
August 18 vs. NYCFC:
Everyone hates New York, am I right? Proximity between these two clubs are close, with Talen Energy Stadium and Yankee Stadium being separated by 123 miles, but the matches between them in their history have been even closer. The Union have squared off against NYCFC seven times in their young history, in five of those seven matches, the outcome has been decided by one goal or a draw. There has never been a meeting in which the winner has won the contest by more than two goals. As the New York and Philadelphia rivalry grows closer, so do these matchups each time they step on the pitch.
Oct. 21 vs. New York Red Bulls:
The Union will host the New York Red Bulls in the team's final home match of the 2018 regular season, and a game fans certainly wont to miss out on. In the final 2017 matchup against one another at Red Bull Arena, Andre Blake had a spectacular game. Blake rejected every shot the Red Bulls fired at him. Despite walking away with a scoreless draw, the rivalry matchup is always exciting to watch.
In addition to these rivalry matches, fans will be able to catch the team return to action for the 2018 campaign with a Home Opener, presented by Oliver Heating and Cooling, on March. Tickets for the match versus New England Revolution can be found here.
