Philadelphia Union fans have voted and the results are in. The maestro in the midfield, Alejandro Bedoya has been voted the club’s IBX Live Fearless April Player of the Month.
The Captain displayed his talents throughout the course of the month and was all over the pitch. In the club's four matches in April, Bedoya recorded 333 touches, including a team-leading 103 touches in the club’s 3-2 win over Eastern Conference rival D.C. United last week.
Bedoya started off the month with a strong performance against San Jose Earthquakes where the United States Men’s National Team midfielder recorded 97 touches and had a passing accuracy of 92.7 percent on the day.
The Captain finished the San Jose match with an excellent goal, after flying into the box to preserve a point for his club. In the contest, Bedoya was named the Player of the Match and earned the highest player rating of any man on the pitch by Whoscored.com
In his final performance for the month of April, Bedoya’s veteran leadership was on display. In the 60th minute of play against DCU, Bedoya received a pass inside the box from Haris Medunjanin. Instead of trying to score from a tough angle, with defenders draped all over him, Bedoya made the smart play by redirecting the ball towards striker CJ Sapong who ultimately found the back of the net.
With his bookend performances in the month of April, Bedoya is your Player of the Month. The Captain will look to continue to build off of those performances tonight when the Union take on the reigning MLS Champions Toronto FC at BMO Field. Kick off for the match is set for 8 p.m. ET on PHL17.
