The Philadelphia Union U-18s kicked off their tournament run at the prestigeous Dallas Cup with a 1-0 victory over Mexican side Deportivo Toluca F.C. on Sunday.
The opening contest was a physical one with neither side allowing the other to generate high percentage scoring chances. The scoring opportunities would come for the penalty spot with both going in favor of the Boys in Blue.
Goalkeeper Alex Smith came up clutch with a save during the match, going to his left and getting a glove on Toluca's lone scoring attempt. Lennon Harrington continued his strong run of performances as the MLS NEXT Rising Star of the Matchweek scored the game's lone goal with a convertion from the spot.
