Despite a cold and windy game, Philadelphia Union Academy U-14s started their 2018 Development Academy campaign with a three-nil shutout victory against Continental FC this past weekend.
The weather conditions made for a slow start to the game, but the team controlled the tempo of the match with their possession. The U-14s limited the opposition to minimal scoring opportunities while showcasing their defensive abilities.
The team’s transition game proved to be the key to the U14’s success. The high-pressure offense became successful with goals coming from Andrew Johnson, Nelson Pierre, and Sawyer Koza, while also generating several opportunities in wide areas of play.
