Coding Confidence: Kicking Off Women’s History Month

Coding Confidence: Kicking Off Women’s History Month

Thanks to our partners at Malamut Law, we launched our Women’s History Month programming in an unforgettable way—welcoming the Girls Who Code Club from John Moffet Elementary School to Subaru Park.

The girls explored future possibilities in STEM, hearing firsthand from a senior at Widener University, before jumping into hands-on coding activities in our state-of-the-art Subaru Esports Hub. The celebration continued on the field, where they were surprised with a $1,000 donation from Malamut—and saw themselves featured on the big screen, lighting up the stadium with pride and excitement.

Unity Through Wellness: Supporting Women’s Health Together

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Philadelphia Union hosted a free Women’s Health & Wellness Fair to empower women in the Chester area and other high-need communities to prioritize their well-being.

The event focused on the unique health needs of women, offering free preventative screenings, fitness sessions, wellness seminars, and resources on COVID-19 and flu vaccines. Through education, access, and self-care, attendees were encouraged to take charge of their health and futures and empowered to prioritize their wellness moving forward.

Supporting Women and Honoring Strength

To celebrate Women’s History Month, we partnered with WSFS Bank to build thoughtful care packages for women undergoing breast cancer treatment. Each package was filled with essential items and included handmade port pillows—created with care to provide comfort while going through chemotherapy.

These care packages were hand-delivered to Crozer Cancer Center and Penn Medicine, where they’ll serve as small but meaningful reminders of strength, hope, and community.

Reading, Representation & Roots: Black History Month at Edgmont Scholars Academy

To celebrate Black History Month, Philadelphia Union players Nate Harriel and Isaiah LeFlore visited Edgmont Scholars Academy for a special day of storytelling, crafts and connection. The two gathered the group to read books by Black authors and highlighting influential African American figures, celebrating the power of literacy and representation while shaping young minds.

Students not only explored stories that reflect their history—they created art, asked questions, and each took home a book to continue the journey to close out a day rooted in learning, joy, and community.

Planning for the Future: Building Generational Wealth

The Philadelphia Union is proud to have co-hosted a community Estate Planning Workshop with the Foundation of Delaware County at Subaru Park, focused on empowering individuals with the tools to secure their family’s future. This event invited Chester residents to learn how estate planning—wills, trusts, and asset protection—can be a powerful step toward building generational wealth and closing the racial wealth gap in Black communities.

Through education and access, we’re helping families protect what matters most and create a legacy that lasts.

In partnership with Widener University, Delaware County, the CAAT Center, and Making A Change Group, the day began with a peace march and community clean-up around the Union’s campus in Chester.

Keeping Chester Warm

Keeping Chester Warm

The Philadelphia Union teamed up with Subaru of America and Operation Warm to bring warmth and support to local children in Chester. During a special visit to CityTeam Chester, we distributed brand-new coats, socks, and shoes—helping kids stay cozy, confident, and cared for this winter. Supporting our mission to serve and uplift our neighbors by meeting real needs and spreading real joy—one warm coat at a time.
