Academy | U14s and U13s rack up shutouts at PDA

Recap_U1413_502

Philadelphia Union Academy’s younger squads went undefeated with the U14s and U13s sweeping PDA while the U12s knocked off New York Red Bulls.

After falling in a friendly to Penn Fusion the previous day, the U13s fought back to claim a 3-0 win in MLS NEXT competition at PDA. Demonstrating good tempo and pace on the ball that created scoring chances, the Boys in Blue saw goals from Gabriel Wesseh, Gunnar Graham and Matteo Zambrano in the win.

The U14s too knocked off PDA in a shutout with a 1-0 performance. Cavan Sullivan’s goal was all the squad added for the MLS NEXT victory as the team played lockdown defense to win duels and clog up the passing lanes.

The U12s faced off against a tough New York Red Bull squad and picked up a 4-3 win. Both teams pushed for the three points but the Union stayed compact defensively when pressing. Willyam Ferreira led the scoring with a brace while Jax Novador and Arron Wessah helped complete the scoring over their biggest rivals.

Both squads will be back in MLS play this weekend with contests against Achilles FC on Saturday, May 8th. The U14s will kick off from YSC Academy at 12 p.m. ET while the U13s will follow at 2 p.m. ET.
