St. Paul, MN (October 20, 2021) – The Philadelphia Union battled Minnesota United to a 2-3 loss Wednesday evening at Allianz Field. Despite a road defeat, the Union remain in third place in the Eastern Conference. The Loons took the lead in the 41st minute when Adrien Hunou slipped past the Union defense and squeaked the shot past Andre Blake. Daniel Gazdag brought the Union level in the 45th minute, sending a Jamiro Monteiro assisted ball screaming past the keeper from just inside the box. Gazdag would give the Union a 2-1 lead in the 54th minute, finishing a corner attempt that went off the keeper’s hands. The two goals were Gazdag’s second and third goals of the season. In the 63rd minute Robin Lod would score an equalizer for the home team just two minutes after coming on the pitch. Just minutes later Franco Fragapane would capitalize on a Union turnover in their own box to make it a 3-2 Minnesota lead in the 67th. Despite Minnesota going down to 10 men in the 77th minute and the Union generating good chances, Philadelphia were not able to find the late match equalizer. 

The Union are back at home at Subaru Park Saturday evening where they will host Nashville. (7:30 p.m. ET / PHL17).
