Philadelphia Union Academy kicked off it's 2022 fall season with a straight set of victories against Cedar Stars and PDA this weekend.
The U12s faced high pressure from PDA and had to fight for their 4-0 win. Evan Roberts picked up a brace as he and Zak Oladunmoye drove the team on. Paul Nash's squad can hit an even higher level and will look to build on the shutout next weekend.
The most dominant performers of the weekend were the U15s. Peyton Presson knocked in four goals and Anisse Saidi added three more for Henry Apaloo's squad in their first local match after a strong European tour. With a large lead, the team focused on maintaining a strong mentality throughout the match.
Miles Smith, Colin Fulham, and Timo Gbalajobi scored for the U13s as they shut out Cedar Stars. Dany Sullivan was also a top performer as the group stayed organized after taking the lead and continued to work on maintaining shape when the opponent held the ball.
Phil Karn's U14s got a brace from Willyam Ferreira and goals from Mateo Gallegos and Charlie Rihn as they slipped past Cedar Stars 4-1. Ferreira's creativity in the attacking midfield role helped the team push on after they controlled the ball in the first half but went into the break at a 1-1 scoreline.
The U17s also notched a 4-1 win behind four second half goals. Alex Perez was first on the board, followed by recent Mexican youth team call-up Diego Rocio, Jeremiah White, and Luca Mazzola.
The Academy action continues on September 18th with the U13s and U15s livestreaming on PhiladelphiaUnion.com beginning at 10:00 a.m. ET against PA Classics.
