Philadelphia Union Academy kicked off a busy March slate with four results over the weekend at they battled contests this weekend against regional rival D.C. United while the youngest sides battled Met Oval in U.S. Soccer Development Academy action.

The U-13s picked up the largest win of the weekend behind a trio of two-goal performances by Kellan LeBlanc, Anisse Saidi and Jordan Griffen against Met Oval.

“We were very good on the day and dominated every phase of play,” head coach Phil Karn said following the contest. “We dominated possession and were dangerous going forward almost every time we had the ball. Some of the creativity and combination play to score goals was very good.”

The other contest against the New York side saw the U-14s jump out to a strong opening half but settle for a 3-3 draw.

Against D.C. United, the U-15s took advantage of a first-half hat trick from Connor Budniak to cruise to a 4-1 victory on the road. With the offense clicking, the Boys in Blue kept their foot on the defensive side of the pitch, limiting chances from D.C. United.

With a young side the featured mainly 2004 and 2005 players, the U-17 side went on the road and battled to a scoreless draw. Despite the tie, the match saw the U-17 debut for six players on the side.

The final contest of the weekend for the Union Academy saw a late winner give D.C. United a 3-2 victory despite first-half goals from Patrick Bohui and Aboubacar Camara.
