Preview | Union set to battle Inter Miami in MLS Home Opener Saturday

Philadelphia Union kicks off its Major League Soccer home schedule on Saturday night as the club hosts second-year MLS side Inter Miami CF. Kick from Subaru Park is set for 8 p.m. ET with coverage set to begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday's match marks the return of free match streaming on PhiladelphiaUnion.com for fans within the Philadelphia DMA with fans also able to view the match on PHL17 or by clicking here to listen to the FOX The Gambler broadcast which is available via 102.5 FM, 104.5 HD2, the iHeart App and 1480 AM.

The Boys in Blue are off to a strong start in 2021 play with a historic 270 minute shutout streak to begin the season that began on April 7th against Deportivo Saprissa in the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League. Last weekend the Union went on the road and showed true grit to spoil Columbus Crew SC's MLS Cup celebration with a scoreless draw. Two-time MLS Goalkeeper of the Year winner Andre Blake was in midseason form, making six saves including a point-saving stop in the 83rd minute against a headed effort from Artur.

On the other side of the pitch, Inter Miami CF comes to Chester, PA after dropping their home opener to the LA Galaxy by a 3-2 margin in Head Coach Phil Neville's debut. Miami got on the board just before the halftime whistle on a goal from Robbie Robinson. Mexican superstar Chicharito took over in the match, equalizing the contest in the 62nd minute but the tied was short lived as Gonzalo Higuain converted from the PK spot. Five minutes later Chicharito again tied up the contest with the Galaxy claiming all three points with an 81st minute winner from Sacha Kljestan.

While Inter Miami didn't claim a point on the opening weekend, their roster is once more loaded with names that both casual and dedicated fans know with the likes of the Higuain brothers, Rodolfo Pizarro, Blaise Matuidi, Leandro Gonzalez Pirez and Joevin Jones available. Also on the roster list Union fans will spot former Union goalkeeper John McCarthy who earned the start against LA on Sunday.
