The starting XI for your Philadelphia Union features a youthful twist.
Philadelphia will be starting their first three picks in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft tonight in Columbus. This will be the second time this season Josh Yaro (No.2), Keegan Rosenberry (No.3) and Fabian Herbers (No. 6) will be in the starting lineup together. For Rosenberry, the MLS All-Star is the only player in MLS to play every minute this season.
In net for the Union is 2016 MLS All-Star Andre Blake. The only goalkeeper in MLS history to be selected No. 1 overall in the draft currently ranks second in MLS in saving catches with 13.
Chris Pontius and Tranquillo Barnetta will patrol the midfield with Herbers for the Union tonight against Columbus. Pontius is the club’s leading goal-scorer with 10. Barnetta is tied for first in MLS with two goals off of free-kicks. Up top for the Union is striker C.J. Sapong.
Alejandro Bedoya makes his third consecutive MLS start. Bedoya played entire match last week for Philadelphia against Toronto FC. Joining Bedoya in the central midfield is Warren Creavalle.
Defensively from left to right features Fabinho who will start in 73rd game tying him for seventh in franchise history. Richie Marquez joins the backline, Marquez has started in 25 consecutive matches.
