Reasons to watch the Union take on Toronto FC

Listen, we all know what your plans are this weekend. The Union have a very important match up in Toronto against the first-placed team in the East, so it goes without saying that you’re going to be watching. BUT if for some obscene reason you need more encouragement to tune in, here are some reason to watch on Saturday night.

1. Sweet, sweet redemption.

The last time the Union matched up against Toronto, it wasn’t a pretty sight. And although Ken Tribbett scored the lone goal for Philly in that game, he was subbed out at halftime.

With Josh Yaro unavailable because of the red card he received in Portland, this is a chance for Ken, and the Union as a whole, to really show Toronto what kind of team they are.

2. Mo on the road?

On Wednesday Jim Curtin alluded in his press conference that there could be a possibilitity that Maurice Edu travels with the team this weekend.

This would make his first road trip of the season.  And for all those sentimental people out there, Edu’s first MLS club was Toronto FC. If he does go with the Union this weekend it would mark the beginning of his 2016 season in the place he started his MLS career. Now isn't that precious?

3. National team stars

Back on August 20th when the Union hosted Toronto, it was Alejandro Bedoya’s first home match of his career with the Union, and also the first time had ever played against USMNT teammates.

Now, Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore have the opportunity to play host to their national team teammate.

With all that star-power on the field, Saturday’s match is guaranteed to be a good one to watch.

4. Pontius on the verge

It’s no secret that Chris Pontius is having one of the best seasons of his career.

Currently, Pontius is second on the team in assists this season with five, and if he records an assist in Toronto it will set a new career record for him.

What better way to spend your Saturday than to watch Pontius further prove to the league that this is his year?

Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 PM on TCN, JP Dellacamera and Tommy Smyth will be on the call.
