The Union welcomed Christian Pedagna and Tucker McClure to the training facility this week after they won a training session with Union players at last year's Cocktails and Cleats event.
"It was really cool to train with the Union," Tucker said. "I was really excited, and when we pulled up to the complex, I had butterflies in my stomach. But it was really fun."
Keegan Rosenberry and Fabinho joined the two for an hour long training session, where they got the real Union training experience. The training session started with a warm-up, and then proceeded to play soccer tennis. Keegan and Christian were paired up against Fabinho and Tucker. Fabinho and Tucker ultimately won what turned into a close and heated match.
Moving on from there, Christian and Tucker participated in shooting accuracy drills, along with other shooting and passing drills with the adidas miCoach Smart Ball, which registers shot velocity, spin, passing speed and other aspects of every touch.
Once training was over, the two got a personal tour of the Union's Power Training Complex, seeing the Union's locker room, weight room, video room and lounge, and were able to eat in the players' cafeteria.
"It was so much fun," Christian said. "Tennis was my favorite part, even though Fabinho cheated."
"It was a lot of fun and a really great opportunity to meet two good players on the Union," Tucker said. "But not just players, but role models."
Cocktails and Cleats is the Union's largest philanthropy event of the year. The event serves as a thank you to all of those who have donated to the Union Foundation throughout the year, while also giving attendees the chance to bid on one-of-a-kind experiences with the Union, such as this one-on-one training session with Union players. All proceeds from the event, and donations to the Union Foundation, goes toward programs such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Fare & Square Food Mart, Soccer for Success and other organizations.
