The Philadelphia Union Academy extended its winning streaks against a familiar opponent over the weekend with the U14s and U13s defeating Real Jersey FC.
The U13’s had a busy time this past weekend but that did not slow their winning ways taking home a pair of victories. They opened the weekend with a 6-0 win over Real Jersey FC on Saturday. A well-balanced effort saw six different goal scorers with James Soler, Jamir Johnson, Cavan Sullivan, Nehan Hasan, Nicholas Greer, Gunnar Graham all converting on the day. The boys followed that effort up with a much tighter 1-0 home victory over Baltimore Armour. Max Owusu was the lone goal scorer on Sunday and proved to be enough to keep the win streak alive and well.
The U14 group faced a tough challenge this weekend taking on Real Jersey FC and coming away with a 1-0 victory. The score does not fully reflect the game however as the Union dominated possession through the game and just failed to capitalize on a few solid chances on goal. The backline flexed their muscles throughout the match leading to another shut out on the year for the squad. Gabriel Wesseh was the lone goal scorer on the day which was enough to push the team to victory.
Not to be outdone, the Union Academy's U12 team took on the Union’s U11 team and claimed a 5-0 victory. The squad created a number of quality chances on the day, but are still not punishing opposing teams for their mistakes adequately. Declan Lannon was the man of the match on the day with four goals, while Luke Seins added one more. Willyam Ferreira continues to impress with his incredible skill with the ball and creating chances on goal.
The U14s and U13s return to action this weekend with another doubleheader scheduled as they'll face off against the rival New York Red Bulls on Saturday followed by a home match against FC Delco. Meanwhile the U12s return to action on Saturday, October 31st then they square off too against the New York Red Bulls.
