With no opposition on the MLS NEXT schedule this past weekend, Philadelphia Union Academy’s U14s and U13s battled one another in a Friday afternoon scrimmage.
The U13 team was able to hold their own in the first half against their older opponent holding the U14’s scoreless until the 31st minute of play. The U14’s followed that goal up with another just five minutes later to take a 2-0 lead into the half. The second half favored the U14 side much more with the group converting four times in the second half for a final score of 6-0.
Meanwhile the Union Academy’s U12 team took on FC in a rematch of effort from the previous week when they last met. Much like last weekend the Union came away with a blistering win, finishing 6-1. The Union came out of the gates on fire scoring three unanswered before the first half came to an end. FC Delco cut the lead to two when they converted in the 16th minute of the second half. However, that was short lived as the Union scored three more to push their lead to five goals where it would finish.
The U13 and U14 sides have concluded league play and will next take to the field in a pair of club friendlies against NYCFC on December 5th. The U12’s will finish their own campaign on the road in against Penn Fusion on December 5th.
