Torres Nominated for Hispanic Choice Award

Chester, Pa. (September 30, 2010) – Philadelphia Union midfielder Roger Torres has been nominated in the category of Favorite Professional Athlete by the Hispanic Choice Awards. The competition recognizes and honors Hispanic individuals, businesses and organizations as chosen by the Latino community of Philadelphia. The ceremony will be held on October 14th at Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia at 8:00 p.m.

Candidates were chosen by the Latino community during a three month long online voting campaign on www.phillyHCA.com in categories such as media personality, government official, night club/bar and visual artist.  Nominated alongside Torres in the professional athlete category are Philadelphia Phillies’ relief pitcher J.C. Romero and catcher Carlos Ruiz.
