Le Toux Wins Xbox 360 Fair Play Award

Philadelphia Union Forward Sebastien Le Toux has earned Major League Soccer’s Xbox 360 Individual Fair Play Award, the League announced today. The award goes to the player who exhibits the best sportsmanship and receives the least amount of yellow and red cards during the MLS regular season. Le Toux, who has never received a card in his MLS career, was nominated along with the Chicago Fire’s C.J. Brown and the San Jose Earthquakes’ Chris Wondolowski. Both Brown and Wondolowski have seen cautions this season, receiving two and three yellow cards, respectively.

“I’m very flattered to win this award,” said Le Toux. “It is proof of what I try to show on and off the field on a daily basis, as well as my respect to the MLS rules and the fans.”

Le Toux’s first season with Philadelphia Union was a tremendous success. Left unprotected by Seattle Sounders FC in the 2009 MLS Expansion Draft, Le Toux emerged as one of the premier offensive stars in Major League Soccer, pacing MLS in combined goals and assists with a total of 25 (14 goals and 11 assists).

Le Toux started the All-Star Game against Manchester United, the first-ever player to represent the Union in the league's midseason showcase.

The Frenchman, who started all but two matches for Philadelphia in league play, committed only 10 fouls in 2,520 minutes of action over 28 games. He played in just as many matches for the Seattle Sounders in 2009 and committed even fewer fouls (7) without having a single card shown his way.

Danny Mwanga, a finalist for MLS Rookie of the Year, was not chosen as the winner. The award went to D.C. United's Andy Najar. Mwanga led MLS rookies in goals with seven, adding four assists. Najar compiled five goals and an assist.
