After Wednesday night’s 1-1 tie against D.C. United, the Philadelphia Union returned to training Thursday morning under the blue Clearwater sky. After the set of warm-ups lead by strength and conditioning coach Kevin Miller, the Union worked on possession and passing.
With the players separated into two teams with one neutral player, they each had to complete a certain number of passes while trying make it to the opposite end-line with the other team defending.
Afterwards, the team moved into small-sided scrimmages on two separate fields: one with regular sized goals and the other with small goals. To determine who would get the ball first, goalkeepers Matt Jones and John McCarthy jumped to hit the crossbar. As Matt Jones hit it first, the orange team got the ball.
Once practice came to an end and the team finished stretching and some guys followed C.J. Sapong’s lead and laid out on the grass to cool down.
All in day’s fun!
