Insider's perspective of Monday morning practice

The Union's busy schedule continues as they prepare for a road trip that will take them to Orlando and then Colorado within four days time. On Monday morning, the First Team trained at the Union Training Center in order to prepare for their long week ahead.

Getting an insider's look at their morning training session, the team looked in good form on Monday following their 1-0 victory over D.C. United on Friday night. Most of the time was spent on finishing crosses -- something that came in handy last match with Richie Marquez's late-game heroics. As always, the team focused a lot of attention on the accuracy of their passes and head coach Jim Curtin said that will continue to be a huge part of their game plan as they prepare for both Orlando City SC and Colorado Rapids.

Maurice Edu once again continued his rehab sessions on the field with the team, passing the ball around with the training staff. Having Mo outside with the rest of the team has proved to keep morale up and make him feel more connected, while not being able to psychically contribute to the team's on-field success.

Brian Carroll spoke after practice about the team's upcoming week saying that it will be extremely important for the team to keep track of their fitness levels as they prepare to play two games in two different cities over the next four days. He and other team members credited the Union's sport science staff for helping them stay fresh during workouts, as well as travel.

The team also spoke about getting used to the altitude change in Colorado and said it is just something they will have to adapt to once they arrive on Thursday afternoon. Warren Creavalle said that playing in higher elevations could make it harder to catch your breath, or take deep breathes sometimes -- but the team is confident that they will be ready to play at a high level once game time comes around on Saturday night.

The Union will quickly train on Tuesday before they depart for Orlando. Kickoff for Wednesday is set for 7:30 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet. The team will fly out to Colorado on Thursday afternoon after a morning regeneration session. Training will resume on Friday and they will take the field against the Rapids at 9 p.m. (EST) on The Comcast Network.
