Philadelphia and Orlando City face off mid-week at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando. This is not the first time these two have faced off this season, as they played at Talen Energy tadium back in April. The thrilling game ended with a 90th minute free kick game winning goal by Tranquillo Barnetta.
The Union come into this game with a five-game unbeaten streak, the latest of which was a 1-0 win against D.C. United at home. The prior two matches were two ties against two of the best teams in the league in LA Galaxy and Montreal Impact.
Orlando City comes into the game with a win against Montreal Impact, which was much needed after a stretch of six winless games. Much like the Union, Orlando is currently on a unbeaten home streak. The 12-match streak dates back to July 18, 2015.
Philadelphia is in first place in the Eastern Conference with 18 points, and also leads the conference in points-per-game with 1.64. Richie Marquez and the defense have been getting all the attention after the hard fought game against D.C. United during rivalry week. Marquez was able to score his first MLS goal in the 90’+2’ minute to lift the Union to the top of the conference with a 1-0 win.
After their contest with Orlando City SC, the Union will fly straight to Colorado to take on the Rapids. Colorado currently sits in first place in the Western Conference. Colorado also leads the entire league in points per game.
Andre Blake will be staying with the club during this road trip, and delay his Jamaican National team appearance for Copa America. He has five wins and three shutouts this season.
