Philadelphia Union today announced that fewer than 300 tickets remain for Sunday’s Decision Day match against the New York Red Bulls, which kicks-off at 4:00 p.m. ET.
The Union are looking to clinch a berth in the Audi 2016 MLS Cup Playoffs on Sunday and can do so with a win or a draw against the Red Bulls in this rivalry match. Additionally, Philadelphia can qualify for the post-season even with a loss against the Red Bulls, provided that New England does not win in such a manner where the margin of Revolution victory plus the margin of Philadelphia’s defeat exceeds 11 goals.
The post-season berth would be the second in club history as well as the team’s first since 2011. Philadelphia has already set their club record for most goals in a single MLS regular season (52), and a win on Sunday would match the Union’s 12 wins in 2013 for the most that the club has ever recorded in a single season.
“Sunday is one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the season as we close out the regular season by facing a conference rival with significant playoff implications," said Philadelphia Union Chief Business Officer Tim McDermott. "Due to the demand for a possible playoff-clincher, once all seats are sold for this Sunday’s match, we will add 200 standing-room tickets to accommodate additional supporters."
For those unable to make it to Talen Energy Stadium for the match on Sunday afternoon, live coverage begins on The Comcast Network at 4 p.m. ET, with JP Dellacamera and Tommy Smyth calling the action.
Should Philadelphia clinch a berth in the Audi 2016 MLS Cup Playoffs on Sunday, they would begin their post-season run in the Knockout Round with a road match on either Wednesday, October 26 or Thursday, October 27. Pending results on Decision Day Sunday, Philadelphia Union could potentially face one of New York City FC, Toronto FC, or D.C. United in that contest. Should Philadelphia win and advance, they would begin the Eastern Conference Semifinals at Talen Energy Stadium on Sunday, October 30. Tickets for that match are available at http://bit.ly/2e4l06f.
