He’s a product of Arsenal FC
Simpson began his career in the Norwich City academy before moving to the Arsenal academy in 1997 at the age of nine. He had a successful career for Arsenal’s reserve team, including a hat trick at the Emirates Stadium for Arsenal’s Under-18s in a FA Youth Cup match. The following season, he made three first team appearances for the Gunners in the League Cup, scoring two goals in the Round of 16 against Wigan (November 11, 2008). He also appeared on the bench for two UEFA Champions League fixtures.
He has a strong goal-scoring record
The forward recently scored 25 times in a single season, in 2015-16 Leyton Orient in England. He’s bagged over 75 goals in league competition across England.
He brings Premier League experience to Philadelphia
In addition to his time with Arsenal, Simpson made 13 appearances in the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion. He scored his first Premier League goal on January 31, 2009 against Hull City as part of a 2-2 tie.
He’s a family man
Simpson is married to his wife, Isabelle and has three young children, Tyreigh, Mya and Blake. Away from the game, Jay enjoys spending time with his family and children, including being involved in their after-school activities.
He’s played in Thailand in addition to England
The forward has laced up the boots for six English clubs in addition to Thai side Buriram United.
